The thing that makes my job easiest and most enjoyable is when a wedding is full of laughter, smiles and emotion. When these things come so naturally I’m one step closer to getting the perfect set of shots. It was amazing to capture such an expressive bunch of people at Kathryn and Ace’s wedding.
I knew it was going to be a fun day from the moment I met the groomsmen. Smiling from ear to ear, Ace and the boys’ personalities were as colourful their socks. The same mood resonated across to the bridal party, who started the day in their glamorous kimonos giggling over champagne. You could tell immediately that Kathryn and Ace had a lifetime of laughs ahead.
The ceremony took place at St Mary’s Catholic Parish Concord. Everyone’s eyes were torn between Kathryn in her beautiful dress that draped behind her as she walked down the aisle with her father, and Ace whose eyes were full of happy tears. One of my favourite shots is capturing the groom’s face the first time he sees his bride.
We followed the ceremony with a location shoot at Auburn Botanic Gardens. The Japanese inspired landscape was beautifully vibrant with decorative bridges, flowering Azaleas and a large lake with a central island. It was the perfect backdrop to capture a diverse range of shots.
The party started at the glamorous Westella Renaissance in Lidcombe. Kathryn and Ace did a fantastic job at keeping the night exciting with a cheeky lap dance games, a beautiful performance by the groom and a choreographed dance routine. It was a definitely the wedding guests would never forget!
